Hondo and Fabian is the tale of how two household friends spend their day. And on this day it's a day spent apart. Hondo goes to the dog's favourite place - the beach, and Fabian the cat stays home. This charming day in the life of two common household buddies is a picture book success. There's a simplicity and gentleness to the way the story is told that matches the obvious bond that the two pets share. When Hondo returns home after his adventure you feel glad that they are reunited. I always think that is the sign of a great story - one that makes us feel something. This one is elegantly told and funny. Peter's art is original, stylish and just so clever. Just like the written story, the art has a tenderness to it that is technically brilliant but not overdone with its detail. Excellent and inspiring picture book Peter! I would be so happy if i could one day make one this good.
